Assoc Prof Weranja Ranasinghe

Assoc Professor Weranja is the Clinical Lead of Urologic Oncologic Surgery at Monash Health and the National Lead for GU Oncology SAG for the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand.

He is also the Deputy Academic Director of Urology at Cabrini Research. He serves on several advisory committees including the PFCA/NHMRC Prostate cancer Guidelines steering committee and Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and actively engages in prostate cancer consumer groups for the benefit of the patients.

Urologist and uro-oncologic surgeon

Assoc Professor Weranja treats patients with general urologic conditions including kidney stones and urinary symptoms and has a special interest in urologic cancers, especially prostate cancer and offers personalised treatment to his patients including advanced robotic, laparoscopic and open surgery.

Qualifications

Assoc Professor Weranja completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) degree at the University of Bristol (UK) in 2006 and received membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS Ed) in Edinburgh (UK) in June 2008. He was awarded his PhD at the University of Melbourne for his work in advanced prostate cancers and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS Urology). He is a member of several Australian and international societies including Urology Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ), Royal Australasian College of Surgeon and Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) (US), American Urology Association (AUA), Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (UK) and a member of the Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP).
